It's one thing to have saved to get those designer items, it's another to buy a bunch of them and call it investing in your career.

It irks me to no end to hear women call it an investment piece.save. spend. splurge.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05916225832007707414noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-877141313085074936.post-31986192404540733062013-04-16T12:51:45.990-04:002013-04-16T12:51:45.990-04:00I completely concur regarding shoes. And I seem to have terrible luck with shoes...as soon as I wear a nice, leather-soled pair, the skies will open up and start pouring rain : )J.W.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00471547517293434732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-877141313085074936.post-34257029702995338992013-04-16T12:44:52.719-04:002013-04-16T12:44:52.719-04:00I just checked out your post from a few years ago,...I just checked out your post from a few years ago, and loved it. I think we're on the same exact page. I do think it's totally fine to pick a few things to splurge on. I actually might like a nice purse more than I'd like to go on vacation. And especially this line: "The term "investment piece" was, and is, deployed as a euphemism to describe an exorbitantly expensive depreciating asset."

So true. And especially when it comes to shoes, which seem to wear out in no time (at least walking around new york...) I've noticed the same trend, and while it's fun to look at other people's beautiful outfits, I find that I'm much more inspired and uplifted by people's thoughts and reflections on life and relationships, on being thrifty and creative, and on fun experiences.Lisa @ Elle Seeshttps://elleseesandsays.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-877141313085074936.post-85973813092050477442013-04-15T17:44:42.483-04:002013-04-15T17:44:42.483-04:00Agree 100%. I have a post from a couple years ago Investment clothing - Investments that aren't on this very topic. As to the style bloggers, I know a couple who work high-powered finance jobs and another who admits that clothing is her only weakness (akin to travel for most PF bloggers, I imagine) and that's what she spends on. I also agree it's none of my business how they afford all those things, but I admit I do get curious!Well Heeled Bloghttp://wellheeledblog.comnoreply@blogger.com
